Wonderscope offers special events designed to provide children and their families with diverse and engaging learning experiences. All special events are included with the cost of admission and are FREE to members.

Wonderscope also holds fundraising events, such as luncheons and trivia nights, for adults with an interest in supporting Wonderscope’s mission.

Below is sampling of some past Wonderscope events.

Battle of the Boxes
Battle of the Boxes is a fun Wonderscope event where teams of children and adults design and build cardboard creations out of boxes, duct tape and markers.  This family-friendly competition is a must-see as everyone has fun and most importantly learn skills in creativity, design and building concepts.  Judges select a winner in each of following categories plus a Best of Show: Places & Spaces, Wearables & Costumes, Things That Go.

Our signature WonderPalooza concert series brings local and national children’s musical talent to Kansas City’s youngest fans. Musicians typically invite audience participation, dancing, singing, clapping and more as they share rhythm, rhyme and academic and life lessons through music.

Wonder Eve
Wonderscope visitors rang in the new year at our “Noon Year’s Eve” celebration on December 31, 2019. After a morning of playing in the exhibits and watching a balloon artist at work, children and adults alike rocked out to a concert by Mr. Stinky Feet, Jim Cosgrove, who then led the crowd in a countdown to noon. Plenty of cheers, noisemakers, and confetti followed!

Trivia Night
Wonderscope’s 2020 Trivia Night fundraiser was a virtual one. On May 15th, families tuned in to play for fun — a trophy!

Annual Luncheon
The theme for this year’s fundraising luncheon, held Thursday, February 27,  was 2020 Vision – a sentiment that captures perfectly our excitement about the amazing NEW Wonderscope opening in fall 2020. The keynote speaker was Dr. Natasha Burgert, a local KC pediatrician with national recognition, who shared her knowledge and passion for children and healthy child development.
