Wonderscope's "Wonder Why Children's Garden" opened in June of 2007 and is continuing to evolve each season. The Wonder Why garden teaches children by connecting them to an exciting world of plants to foster a love of nature. We encourage families to visit the garden to see nature at its best.
This garden may bring to mind some favorite children's stories. The vegetables may remind you of the Peter Rabbit story. Children can enjoy sitting in a tiki hut and pretend that they are exploring the mighty jungle with their cartoon friend Dora the Explorer in the lush tropical garden. Look closely at the towering structures, could it be Jack in the Bean Stalk crawling down the bean poles? The rose garden and annual flowers offers an inviting mushroom table and stools for an impromptu tea party, just like in Alice in Wonderland.
The Wonder Why garden is a project of the Johnson County K-State Research and Extension Master Gardeners. Extension Master Gardener volunteers assist Extension with its educational mission. For more information on the Extension Master Gardener program visit www.johnson.ksu.edu
