TinkerSpace
Renovated January 2012. Build,
experiment, collaborate and test in TinkerSpace! TinkerSpace originally opened
in fall of 2009 with structures and contraptions and it was renovated to open
in early 2012. Experiment with a variety of building sets including big gears,
large blocks, and small building sets that are rotated to keep the space fresh.
ARTWorks
Renovated June
2011. The ARTWorks exhibit has 4
distinct areas: PaintWorks, ChalkWorks, ARTWorks main
area, and the design station/face painting area. The walls are decorated with
murals painted in the style of Modern artists: Henri Matisse, Jean
Dubuffet, Roy Lichtenstein, and Wassily Kandinsky. Children can engage in a variety of

Farm To Market
Opened Spring
2010.
In Farm to Market, children may play in the barn, HOIST HAY BALES UP THE
KID-POWERED CONVEYOR, collect eggs from a chicken coop, feed a calf, dress up
as farm animals and put on a farm animal puppet show. They may also harvest
fruits and vegetables from the garden and bring them to the farmer's market,
where they can pretend to buy and sell healthy foods.
Big Blue Builders
Opened Winter
2009 Located
in the LEGO exhibit area. Build something amazing with these large
scale building blocks. Created by Imagination Playground these builders transform an indoor area into a rich environment
that invites children to engage in open-ended, free play and a wide variety of
play patterns.
Build Your Own Raceways
Build Your Own Raceways, generously supported by the Junior League of Wyandotte
and Johnson Counties, opened in fall of
2009 and is currently located in TinkerSpace. Experiment with design and
engineering as you learn about energy, motion, friction, force and gravity.
H2Oh!
Splash around in H2Oh!, our water exhibit that opened on WonderEve 2008. Learn about the properties of water through fun,
interactive play.
Repurpose, iMagine, Create!
Moved and reopened in Shawnee in fall of
2008, the former Recycled Materials Center from the Children's Museum of
Kansas City has low-cost educational materials and craft supplies for all of
your projects.
